TEXANS BEAT THE BILLIES 49-42
On Tuesday January 3rd Wimberley traveled to Fredericksburg to battle in the opening game of District 26.
The game was a physical test for both teams.  Fredericksburg's defense was swarming and effective at slowing
Wimberley's  transition game.  Thanks to Davis Holliman's three 3-pointers in the first quarter, Wimberley took an early 15-8 lead.
The 2nd quarter saw Fredericksburg make a run and continue to slow our offense. Wimberley went into half time with a 3 point lead.
The 3rd quarter was a continuation of a physical game that saw both sides trading baskets.  Fredericksburg closed the quarter with a 31-30 lead.
In the 4th quarter Wimberley took control of the game and dominated with some key adjustment by Coach McDorman
and assistance from Hunter Burttschell's three 3-pointers.
Wimberley won 49-42, taking their record to 13-5.  Notable was  that Wimberley held Fredericksburg to only 17 first half points,
with excellent physical defense played by Niko Alana, Tyler Nance, and Davis Holliman.
Scoring: Davis Holliman - 15 pts, Hunter Burttschell - 15 pts, Ian Hooper - 9 pts, Taylor Robertson - 5 pts, Christian Bilger -3 pts, Tyler Nance - 2 pts.
The Texans take on the Canyon Lake Hawks at home this Friday 1/6 at 7:30
TEXANS GROUND THE HAWKS 60-52
On Friday January 6th Wimberley men's basketball hosted Canyon Lake in a District 26 battle.
Wimberley enjoyed the excitement of its first district home game and took advantage early with an aggressive full court press
and jumped out to a 12-0 lead, then closed the 1st quarter with a 24-17 lead.
The 2nd quarter saw Canyon Lake fight back and out score Wimberley 15-9, but the Texans closed the 1st half with a 33-32 lead.
In the 3rd quarter Wimberley tightened their defense and held Canyon Lake to only 8 points.
Strong defense continued in the 4th quarter by Niko Alana, Seth Linker, Davis Holliman, Tyler Nance, Jacob Weldon and Zack Tierney.
Wimberley ended the game with a 60-52 victory over the Hawks.
Scoring: Tyler Nance 15 , Ian Hooper 13, Hunter Burttschell  12, Niko Alana 7, Seth Linker 5, Davis Holliman 3,

TEXANS POUND THE PANTHERS 70-58
On Tuesday January 10 Wimberley started their matchup with Navarro  with good energy and took an early lead.   However, Navarro stayed in the
game with quickness and the ability to drive to the basket. The game became a physical competition and Wimberley was able to draw four charges
throughout the four quarters.  Wimberley met the Panther's challenge and led at the end of the 1st quarter 20-14.
In the 2nd quarter the Texans' defense was not as tight and the Panthers came back to take the lead at the half by one point, 35-34.
Coach McDorman made necessary changes and the Texans came out with focus and new found energy for defense.  Wimberley took the 3rd
quarter with a 15-6 run and the score was 49-41.  In the 2nd half Navarro continued to be very physical and one player was ejected for a flagrant
foul on Niko Alana which resulted in two made free throws. The foul caused Niko to have to leave the court to tend to a bloody nose.  Wimberley
kept Navarro from making any serious comeback and closed out the game with a 21-17 point boost in the 4th quarter.  In the last 2 minutes 4
players for Navarro fouled out as they tried the "Hack-a-Shack" theory.
The Texans were great at the free throw line with 22 out of 28 shots made.
Standing out defensively for Wimberley were Niko Alana, Zack Tierney, and Davis Holliman.
Scoring: Davis Holliman 18, Hunter Burttschell 15, Ian Hooper 10, Tyler Nance 10, Niko Alana 6, Zack Tierney 5, Seth Linker 4, Christian Bilger 3.
The Texans experienced their first loss Friday night against the Beoerne Greyhounds (details to be posted later).
Come out and cheer on the Texans as they take on Bandera at home on Tuesday night.
GREYHOUNDS OUTRUN THE TEXANS 77-55
First place was on the line as Wimberley hosted the Boerne Greyhounds Friday night, January 13th.
The 1st quarter was physical as both teams played up tempo and the defenses were strong. Boerne took the 1st quarter 17-13.
Tyler Nance, HunterBurttschell, and Ian Hooper all made 3 pointers in the 1st quarter.
In the 2nd quarter Boerne's defense was able to get Wimberley out of their game and made an 18-6 run to close out the first half with a 35-19 lead.
Wimberley worked hard in the 3rd quarter to make a come-back, but Boerne was able to extend their lead with a smooth running offense.
The 3rd period ended with Boerne up 56-33.
The Texans continued to fight and never gave up but the hole was too big for Wimberley to dig out of
and the final score was 77-55 in favor of Boerne.
Scoring for Wimberley - Tyler Nance 12, Hunter Burttschell 12, Seth Linker 8,Ian Hooper 6, Christian Bilger 6,
Jacob Weldon 5, Niko Alana 3, Taylor Robertson 3.
